People 'want big kitchens'

8th July 2010

The kitchen is fast becoming one of the most important rooms in the home, according to GE Appliances & Lighting.

As lifestyles change, the demand for big kitchens is increasing, with people wanting to have the space to entertain and spend time with the family in the room.

Marc Hottenroth, manager of GE Appliances' Industrial Design Organisation, commented: "The kitchen is the hub of family activity, whether it's the children doing homework at the kitchen island or the family sitting down for dinner."

With people spending more time in the kitchen, they could be tempted to enter online auctions for kitchen appliances to help improve the functionality of the space.

Mr Hottenroth noted that more kitchens are being designed with spaces dedicated to a particular hobby, such as baking or wine making.

By entering online penny auctions, you could pick up items such as a breadmaker, George Foreman grill or even an electric corkscrew, all for a fraction of the recommended retail prices.
