Mobile phones 'used for more than calls'
14th October 2010

As new research shows that a significant number of Britons claim to use their phone for more than making telephone calls, entering online auctions for mobile phones could allow people to get the latest handsets.
Figures released by Lloyds TSB show three-quarters of people multitask on their mobiles, with more than half using such a device as a camera.
Meanwhile, 19 per cent of respondents check their emails through their phone, while around one in three use it as a calendar, with handsets also being used an mp3 player, alarm clock and satnav system.
The study also indicated that one-quarter of people point to their mobile phone as being the one that they cannot live without, although this rises to 50 per cent among 18 to 25-year-olds.
Consumers looking to get a new mobile by winning online auctions may want to consider the HTC Desire, which recently won the Phone of the Year category at T3's Gadget Awards 2010.
By entering penny auctions for mobile phones, people may find that they are able to get their hands on a feature-laden product for much less than on the high street.
