World Cup final ball sold in online auction

A group of Spanish fans were celebrating after getting their hands on one of the balls used in this year's World Cup final.
One of the Jabulani balls manufactured by Adidas was sold for £48,000 following Spain's victory over the Netherlands in the July 11th final.
The proceeds from the online auction will be donated to Nelson Mandela's 46664 campaign to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids.
And the auction for the football attracted international attention, with 133 bids being placed by 55 bidders from around the world.
One of the reasons that the Jabulani ball proved so popular in the auction is because of the controversy surrounding its performance throughout the tournament, an eBay spokesperson revealed.
As well as auctioning off one of the balls from the World Cup final, Adidas is also intending to sell a selection of paintings depicting the competition.
The sports firm commissioned its own team of artists to paint the defining moments of the 2010 World Cup and will be offering a picture of the two teams lining up on the pitch before the kick off in another online auction.
