Nintendo is among the exhibitors at this week's E3 Expo in Los Angeles and the Japanese company has announced its latest innovation in portable gaming to the world.

The Nintendo 3DS features 3D technology without the need for wearing glasses.

And the firm revealed that there will be a raft of titles that are compatible with the new device.

Mario Kart, Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid are among the games said to be in development when it comes to 3D versions for the Nintendo console.

The 3DS was officially demonstrated using the game Kid Icarus Uprising, which has been designed especially for the handheld gaming device.

According to the Guardian Gamesblog, the console works "beautifully", with the reviewer impressed by the "amazing sense of depth and scale" that the Nintendo 3DS offers.

But Nintendo has not announced a release date for the new 3DS. So if you can't wait to get your hands on a new portable games console, you could enter an online penny auction to win a Nintendo DS.
