Brits 'keen to go on late summer holidays'

7th October 2010

As an increasing number of people are looking to go on late summer holidays, those entering penny auctions could find that they save even more money on the cost of going away for a week in the sun.

Trevor Davis, director of retail distribution for The Co-operative Travel, states that there has been a substantial rise in the number of Britons "chasing the last of the summer sun", with bookings for destinations such as Morocco and Tunisia up from the same time last year.

In addition, the Canary Islands are also proving to be a popular choice for late summer holidays, as Mr Davis points out that "excess stock at the end of a difficult season" means that there are some competitive deals available.

His comments come in the wake of research carried out by Tesco Bank which revealed that 29 per cent of people were looking to go on holiday later in the year in an effort to save money.

However, by entering online auctions for holidays travellers can find that they can go away for much less than if they booked a break through a high street tour operator.
