Eco-friendly Satnav hits the market

21st July 2010

Drivers who want to become more environmentally friendly could find that the newest model of Satnav from Nav N Go could help.

The Hungarian manufacturer of satellite navigation systems has come up with a special green feature for its iGo Primo model.

Before setting out, drivers can take advantage of the Green Routing function that allows them to compare different journeys with an overview of mileage, driving time and CO2 emissions.

The information provided is based on the engine type, predicted travel speed and whether the journey will take a route along urban or rural roads.

All of these variables can be entered by the driver, allowing them to make the most environmentally-sound decision about their route.

The Green Routing function in the iGo Primo 1.1 Satnav selects "intelligent routes" based on travelling at lower speeds to reduce fuel consumption while minimising time loss.

One celebrity who could be interested in the green credentials of the Nav N Go Satnav is actor Chris Barrie, who described the route-finding technology as "a breath of fresh air" in a recent interview with the Guardian.
