Blu-ray sales jump in 2010

15th July 2010

Sales of Blu-ray discs in Western Europe and Japan more than doubled in the first six months of the year.

According to research from Media Control GfK, actual point-of-sale retail data shows that sales rose by 107 per cent in the first half of 2010 compared with the same period in 2009.

Brad Hackley, president of Media Control GfK USA, said that increasing numbers of people are investing in Blu-ray technology and this has helped to drive the jump in sales.

"The major retail markets for DVD and Blu-ray sales in Western Europe and Japan are showing positive signs of stabilisation due to improving declines in DVD sales and growing consumer adoption of the Blu-ray format," he added.

If you are a big film lover but do not have the funds to spend on a Blu-ray player then why not enter online penny auctions and win one?

At Quick2Bid you can get your hands on a Sony BDPS360 2.0 machine for a fraction of what you would pay on the high street.
